Windows 8.1 Is Here

Windows 8.1  – The Big Update

As you guys know I recently updated my PC to Windows 8.  So far I like it.  It has taken a bit to get used to the new interface, look, and many other other changes that have come with the upgrade.  For the most part it has been fairly stable.

As most of you have probably been hearing, Windows 8.1 has been released to the public stating 10/17/2013.  As I have mentioned before, being on the bleeding edge is not necessarily the best idea, especially on a business mission critical system.  So I have taken the plunge for you and installed Microsoft latest update to Windows 8.1

I was pretty used to the Windows 8 look and feel; the lack of a start button; the Metro UI; the many other changes in Windows Explorer; and folder layouts,  Windows 8.1 did not really change too much of that. They have added some of what I like to call "quick access" buttons to different areas of the screen.  They have also added back a start button, but it is not what you think it is.  All it does, is send you back to the Metro UI, the same as pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.

There are some other changes as well, but since I have only been using 8.1 for a few hours now, I have yet to find them all.  I will update you in the next few weeks on what I have found, what I like and don’t like about the new update.
