Strategies to Consider
How do you connect powerfully with your customers to grow your brand? That was the topic recently addressed at National Retail Federation’s BIG Show in New York. During the Main Street Retailing Forum, five tips were shared from speakers who represented a cross-section of small business owners from across the country. These tips are shown below:
1. Facebook isn’t free. The best way to leverage it is to spend money on it – paying a photographer and a copywriter to present Facebook posts and photos to match your company website. One presenter was able, in mere hours, to sell out an item that had been sitting on the shelf for weeks by using this method.
2. Look for reasons to celebrate. Don’t just rely on the holidays to bring customers in. Have a birthday celebration for your employees, with customers invited. Have a video contest or a chocolate party for customers just to say “thank you.”
3. You don’t need the government to make changes happen. Make an effort to band together the merchants in your neighborhood for a community event to collectively draw in more customers than individual stores could bring in on their own.
4. Be authentic. A promotion that might bring in customers for one store might not work for a different kind of store. A back-to-school free photo session might work for one company, whereas a free “meals in minutes” workshop would be better for another.
5. You can’t do it all, so stop trying! If Twitter doesn’t work for your business, use something else. If you can’t justify the time you spend on creating blogs for the amount of sales they bring in, try another approach. Focus on what works for you.
Although these tips may be helpful for many retailers, it is important to emphasize that even if you are attracting customers to your store or website, increased sales may not happen unless you have the appropriate POS software to keep your inventory up to date, communicate with your best customers, and provide the best customer service possible.
CounterPoint POS software has many features like CPMobile and CustomerConnect that will help you complete those sales and keep customers coming in. If you would like more information about these and other features of CP, call us at 425-672-4806 or email us.
