Card Payment Touchscreen action – Automatically determining pay codes from card numbers.
To support the automatic recognition of pay codes from card numbers, the Card payment touchscreen action has been added to Touchscreen Ticket Entry. This action allows you to replace multiple pay code buttons in your touchscreen layout with a single button that lets you process any type of card payment, including credit cards, debit cards, stored value cards (SVCs), store credits, gift cards, and electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards.
If the Card prefix values are configured correctly for the pay codes for which you are using a card reader, you can touch this button (or the Complete button) to display the Complete Ticket dialog, and then swipe a payment card to automatically determine the correct pay code.
Swiping payment cards before ticket completion
If you are using an Ingenico i6550 or iSC250 payment terminal with the integrated Ingenico driver, customers can swipe a credit card, debit card, or other type of payment card at any time during a sale, even before the ticket is complete.
As soon as you add a line to a ticket in Ticket Entry or Touchscreen Ticket Entry, the Ingenico payment terminal displays the ticket line (in the Scrolling Receipt Item Format you specified for the device), along with the "Please slide card" prompt.
The customer can swipe his or her card through the payment terminal’s magnetic stripe reader (MSR) at any time. When the customer selects the type of payment he or she is tendering (i.e., Credit, Debit, or Store), Counterpoint used he Card Payment Toucscreen action mentioned above, to automatically determine the pay code to used, based on the prefix of the swiped card.
While you are ringing up additional items, the payment terminal displays each ticket line to the customer, along with the "Please wait for the cashier" message.
If you swipe a gift card or SVC to activate or recharge it after the customer has swiped his or her payment card, Counterpoint will discard the card swipe information and clear the payment display, requiring the customer to swipe his or her card again.
If the customer swiped a debit card, the customer is prompted to enter his or her PIN when you click on the "Complete". button. In this mode the customer cannot enter his or her PIN until the ticket is completed.
Next, the customer is prompted to confirm the amount of the transaction. When the customer has confirmed the amount, the transaction is authorized automatically and the Print dialog appears, allowing you to print the receipt or send it via e-mail.
Finally, if signature capture is enabled for your device (and the Use signature capture for tender setting is enabled for the selected pay code), the customer is prompted to sign the payment terminal screen.
