Recent Handy CP SQL 8.4.5 Service Pack Features

  • Restricting workstations to a single instance of CounterPoint – By default, users can start more than one instance of CounterPoint  SQL on a workstation. In the field we have seen this ability cause issues where some users are starting multiple sessions of CP SQL, often without being clear that they are doing this.  The end result my be locked-up sessions, and user caused conflicts within the software. With the 8.4.5.1 Service Pack, you can configure each workstation (or each  terminal server in a Windows Terminal Services  environment) to prevent  users from starting multiple instances of CounterPoint.  Setting this up requires that some specific widows registry additions be made on the
    workstation.
  • Warning users of significant cost discrepancies – Also with the CP SQL 8.4.5,  you can configure CounterPoint to warn the user if he or she has entered a Unit  cost on a purchase request or a Received Cost on a receiver that differs from the  item’s Last cost by more than a specified percentage. CounterPoint warns the  user first by changing the color of the cost field on each line with a significant  discrepancy, followed by a warning message when the user attempts to save  the purchase request or receiver. The user can accept the entered cost or return  to the purchase request or receiver to correct the discrepancy. This is handy in detecting situations were users have inadvertently typed an item number of scanned a bar-code number into the cost field.
  • Clocking in and out from the status bar – With the CP SQL 8.4.5, If the "Show Time-card Status" setting is in effect for a user’s system security code,  the status bar that appears on the main menu, the Ticket Entry window, and the  Touch screen Ticket Entry window indicates whether the user is clocked in or not.  With this Service Pack, users can click the status bar indicator to display the
Clock-in/clock-out window, making it easier for users to clock in or out.
Previously, the Show time card status check box on the Time-cards tab of the  System Security Codes window (Setup > System > Security Codes) was labeled "Show time card warnings", as the corresponding status bar indicator only indicated  whether a user was not clocked in.
