Good Customer Service Brings Customers Back!

I visited my favorite hardware store yesterday (again) and I was so impressed with the quality of their customer service. As I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted by a sales representative who asked if he could help me find whatever it was that I needed. In a flash, he directed me to Aisle 18 where I found the clock that I wanted, resting on a top shelf. If I had searched completely on my own, it would have taken a long time to locate this clock because the store is rather large and clocks can be categorized in many different departments—like Electrical, Kitchen, Hardware, Gadgets, and so on.
I continued shopping, found a few more things that I needed, but couldn’t find the glue. When I reached the check-out counter, the same sales representative asked if I had found everything I needed. When I told him about the glue, he dashed off to another aisle and brought back several kinds from which I could choose. Wow! Now I was really impressed!
In a small store, clerks can often memorize the location of most items.   In a large store, however, the location of products is much more difficult to determine unless the store has POS software that allows customization to show this when the item is brought up.
