Black Friday Is the Big Day
Have you noticed that Thanksgiving is a little late this year? For the first time since 2002, it comes as late as the calendar allows. Although many consumers have started to shop early for the holidays, it is still anticipated that many more will be shopping on Thanksgiving Day and especially on Black Friday.
According to an NRF preliminary Thanksgiving weekend shopping survey, Black Friday will be the biggest shopping day of the weekend. 97 million shoppers (69.1% of those surveyed) have indicated that they plan to shop on this day. 61 million (43.8%) will shop on Saturday, and 34 million (24.2%) will shop on Sunday.
Reason cited for shopping this holiday weekend include: bigger saving, retailers’ holiday promotions, sales events, and a chance to find that specific gift before it is out of stock.
How will consumers keep up with retailers’ holiday promotions? 49.1% will check out newspaper advertising circulars, 33.5% will search for special emails from retailers, 27.0% will follow retailers’ websites, and 21.9% will check out coupon websites to find special deals.
Are you staying connected with your customers so that you can keep them informed about the products and specials that you are offering this holiday weekend?
