Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey
Seems difficult to believe, but September is nearly over. The next holiday, Halloween, is just around the corner. Stores are already stocked with holiday decorations, costumes, candy, and funny Halloween greeting cards. Despite the current state of the U.S. economy, sales prospects look promising, according to National Retail Federation’s 2011 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey conducted by BIGresearch.
According to the survey, this is expected to be a “booming” holiday, with seven in ten Americans (68%) planning to celebrate in some manner. This is up from last year’s 63.8% and the highest in the survey’s 9-year history! The average person is expected to spend $72.31 on decorations, costumes and candy alone. Life-size skeletons, large inflatable pumpkins, and fake cobwebs will be high on shoppers’ lists. Surprisingly, an estimated $310 million dollars will be spent by pet owners on pint-sized devil, pumpkin, and witch costumes for their animal friends!
Getting your share of the holiday profits means being prepared for the event. Knowing who your best customers are and making sure that they know about your current offerings and specials will bring in more sales. CounterPoint’s CPConnect is a great way to accomplish this.
Remember, also, that more and more people are shopping with their mobile devices. CounterPoint’s new CPMobile is a great product that will help you reel in those “on-the-go” shoppers!
