Getting Foot Traffic to Your Retail Store

Internet sales have become increasingly important to retail business, but don’t discount the critical value of getting customers to walk through your front door!  Jeff Wuorio, in an article for Microsoft Business, suggests several tactics you can use to bring foot traffic to your brick-and-mortar store.

Have a Grand Opening (Or a Grand Re-Opening) – Provide enticements such as food, prizes, and entertainment to make the day memorable. Collect names, addresses, and/or business cards to keep tabs on who showed up.

Periodically Hold Other Promotional Events – Have an in-store raffle or giveaway, bring in a local celebrity, or promote a contest like “guess how many jellybeans are in the jar” to win a prize. Just make it exciting or different in some way.

Make Your Business Newsworthy – Leverage media whenever possible by such things as promoting a charity and donating a portion of the day’s proceeds, or bringing in a radio personality to broadcast on a promotional day.

Follow Up With Your Contacts – If you want consistent traffic, you must follow up and then follow up again! Send offers and special announcements. Encourage customers to pass along news to friends. Following up is easy with a new CounterPoint email marketing tool called CustomerConnect. CounterPoint automatically posts customer data to CustomerConnect, allowing retailers to create and send marketing emails to targeted recipients such as hot prospects, frequent buyers or inactive customers. For more information about CustomerConnect, call us at 425-672-4806 or email us.
