Microsoft warns of upcoming exploit attacks

After Microsoft issued a record number of patches on the August 10 "Patch Tuesday", the released a warning that a record number of vulnerability exploits will probably show up in the next 30 days.

Of the 35 vulnerabilities that were addressed in the patches released, Microsoft rated 32 of them as exploitable, and gave 18 of them a "1" rating.  A "1" rating, means that Microsoft expects reliable exploit code to show up within the next month.

The record number of vulnerabilities that are forecast to be exploited soon, underscores the need for keeping your system up-to-date.  It’ very important to apply security patches, as soon as you can.  Many times, the release of the patch, triggers the release of attempts to exploit the vulnerability.  These exploits rely on the users being slow to apply the security patches.
