Enticing Shoppers for the Holiday Season

National Retail Federation reports that a recent survey shows that online retailers are gearing up for the holiday season by making changes in retail marketing and promotions.  In response to economic uncertainty, at least three tactics will be implemented to improve online sales.

  • Increasing their use of social media to attract buyers.  Adding or improving Facebook and Twitter pages, plus added or enhanced blogs and RSS feeds are expected to be more cost-effective and increase sales.
  • Offering holiday deals earlier this year.  Times are tough and people are expected to spend more time looking for bargains.  Starting deals earlier gives customers a chance to compare pricing.

  • Free shipping.  Four out of five retailers will offer free shipping with conditions and more than half will offer free shipping without conditions.
