Today, I received an e-mail message with a virus attached to it. The e-mail has the subject "I can assure you you’re in deep sh*t now over those photos. You know what I mean". With a catchy subject like this, a lot of persons would want to open the attachment to view its contents. The name of the attachment is Photo.zip and it contains a virus.
The F.B.I. is watching your computer activity, or at least that’s what a new virus wants you to think.
"It’s one of the more elaborate concoctions that I’ve seen," claimed Rich Dailey, a computer repairman. "The FBI logo and banner at the top of the screen looks identical to the FBI website. The rest of it’s kind of sketchy. When you look closely at it, you can see discrepancies, you can see slight misspellings, and poor grammar."

If you receive an e-mail reminding you of a meeting tomorrow and asking you not to forget the corresponding report, which is convenient attached, make sure to ignore it. The attached file is not a report. It is malware.

Google launched a new awareness campaign to alert users whose PCs may be compromised with the “DNSChanger” malware. The DNS servers used by the malware will be shut down soon, and infected computers will no longer be able to communicate with the Web, so Google is doing its part to help users clean up and point their PCs to legitimate DNS servers.

OsSpy is all about teamwork. This deceptive duo works together so that neither threat can be uninstalled easily. Once the first malicious application is installed, it makes sure that the other is immediately installed. If you’re infected and able to successfully uninstall one of the apps, the other one will constantly send you pop-up messages, telling you to install the other app. This annoying tactic will make your device harder to operate, as you’ll be constantly bombarded with pop-up messages. To make matters worse, OsSpy will send an SMS message to the malware author (at a certain number) to alert the scammer that you’ve uninstalled one of the apps.
Don’t get taken by phone calls from someone purportedly in the ‘Windows Maintenance Department’ or ‘Microsoft Tech Support’ about error messages received from your computer.

For the first time, malware is exploiting hacked Web sites as part of a scheme to target mobile devices, researchers say. The new piece of malware—called a Trojan, because it is disguised as piece of safe software—is known as NotCompatible and is directed at Android smartphones and tablets. There is a risk that corporate networks will be compromised, but it appears for now to be low, said the security researcher who revealed the bug.
This one involves fake pop-up alerts along with false system scans typical of scareware scams that deceive victims with absurd findings.
One of the fake alerts that the Windows Foolproof Protector displays mentions an error because Trojan activity has been spotted that’s causing risk to the security of system data; consequently, the user should enable his security software as well as execute a total scrutiny of his system.

UNDATED (AP) Users of Apple’s Mac platform often feel safe from security threats. But malware called the Flashback Trojan has them on alert. The malicious software poses as a common plug-in for Internet browers, and is capable of stealing passwords and personal information.
Norton security experts say approximately 270,000 machines are still infected — down from more than 600,000.
